As the unfortunate coronavirus spreads through the United States, killing thousands, destroying businesses, and creating uncertainty, we want to highlight stand-out individuals and organizations making a positive difference during these difficult times. One of those individuals is Del de Windt, CEO of Cardinal Group Companies, a Denver-based property management company.
Del recently launched a #COVIDBuzzCut challenge reminiscent of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge involved dumping a bucket of ice water over your head to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), known more commonly as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The challenge went viral during the summer of 2014 and the ALS Associate raised over $100 Million in 30 days.
Del’s #COVIDBuzzCut is focused on raising money for Samaritan’s Purse, a non-profit currently at the front lines of New York City’s COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. New York state is an epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States with 149,316 confirmed cases and 6,268 deaths as of 04/08/2020.
Here is how to join the #COVIDBuzzCut challenge:
1. Call out your friends and colleagues on any social media channel to Buzz/Mohawk their heads using the hashtag #COVIDBuzzCut
2. The challenge is either accepted OR the person can donate $100 to Samaritan’s Purse.
3. Then post your before/after haircut online and/or make a donation and return the favor by calling out your friends and colleagues to keep the challenge going.
Del launched the challenge with a video on LinkedIn and so far has thousands of views and hundreds of likes and comments. I personally think the best part of the launch are the alpaca’s in the background 🙂
One of the first to accept the challenge was Alex O’Brien, President at Cardinal Group Companies.
Responses so far have been overwhelming positive. “I love this! Especially that there’s a donation component.” commented Nick Condie.
